Watch: Record-breaking numbers of people visit Iceland’s erupting volcano

Record-breaking numbers of visitors travelled to see the erupting volcano near Iceland’s capital Reykjavik over the weekend.

More than 5,000 people visited the area of the eruption on the Reykjanes peninsula near the town of Grindavik.

Rescue services have set up infrastructure to allow safe access to the site which has become a top tourism destination since the eruption began on March 19.

Meanwhile, the local fire brigade are monitoring gas emissions.
