Two-week-old baby killed after pram hit by car on pavement
A two-week-old boy has been killed after his pram was hit by a car which mounted the pavement, West Midlands Police have said.
A BMW is believed to have been involved in a collision with another vehicle before striking the baby’s pram as his family pushed it along a path in the town of Brownhills, Walsall, at 4pm on Easter Sunday.
The child was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries. A relative also suffered a shoulder injury but nobody else was hurt, police said.
West Midlands Police said the driver of the BMW left the scene following the crash but a 34-year-old man was arrested around four miles away in Bloxwich soon after.
He has been taken into custody and will be questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
