Princess Eugenie delight as new mum can spend Easter with Beatrice, Andrew and Fergie

Princess Eugenie, 31, has been settling into parenthood with her husband Jack Brooksbank at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor since the arrival of their son August Philip Hawke on February 9.

Eugenie’s parents Prince Andrew, 61, and Sarah Ferguson, 60, live just up the road from Eugenie and have been on hand to help with child care following August’s birth.

But it is only since this week that Eugenie has been able to reunite with her beloved older sister Princess Beatrice, 32, following a relaxation of lockdown restrictions.

While Eugenie is understood to be in a bubble with Andrew and Fergie, Beatrice lives in London with her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and the sisters were unable to see each other for weeks.

As of March 29, lockdown in England was relaxed to allow up to six people or two households to socialise outdoors meaning the York family could celebrate Easter together this weekend.

On Tuesday, the Palace confirmed the Queen had spoken to the Archbishop of Canterbury ahead of the important Christian date.

A tweet from the Royal Family’s official account read: “Today The Queen held a telephone Audience with the Archbishop of Canterbury.

“As Sovereign, Her Majesty holds the title of ‘Defender of the Faith and Supreme Governor of the Church of England’.”

Tweeting about his conversation with the Queen, Mr Welby wrote: “It was a great honour to have a telephone audience with Her Majesty The Queen this afternoon.”

The tweet added: “I was able to update her on the work of @churchofengland throughout the pandemic and wish her a happy Easter.

“May God continue to bless and protect her and her family.”

While the Queen won’t make a public appearance this Easter she is likely to visit one of the private chapels on the Windsor Estate for a moment of private reflection.

The easing of lockdown means the Queen may be able to finally meet her ninth great-grandson August if the encounter takes place outdoors.
