George Osborne to marry his former adviser

George Osborne has announced he is to marry his former adviser.

The former chancellor, 49, revealed his engagement to Deliveroo executive Thea Rogers, 39, in The Times, placing an advert in the “Forthcoming Marriages” section of the newspaper.

It read: “Miss T. Rogers and Mr G. Osborne. The engagement is announced between Thea and George.”

The couple moved to Somerset last year and are expecting their first child together, The Times reported.

Mr Osborne stood down from his role as editor of the Evening Standard newspaper in London last summer having taken the reins in 2017, a year after he resigned as chancellor over the Brexit vote.

He has two children – Luke and Liberty – with his wife Frances Howell.

They divorced in 2019 after 21 years of marriage, but they are said to have “remained good friends”.
